How to Enable Original Sound on a Mobile Device

In our opinion, using Zoom on a Mobile device is not a bad experience for performing. But it has some limitations. Mobile devices include (but not limited to):

  • iPhone
  • Android Phone
  • iPad
  • Android Tablet

One limitation we have seen, there is automatic volume leveling added to the microphone that, as far as we know, cannot be disabled.

One key thing sounding your best is enabling something called Original Sound. Turning this feature on will tell Zoom to send unprocessed audio from your microphone. The usual audio processing typically kill string (and other) instruments and can tend to create massive quality issues to vocals in the process.

To enable Original Sound, there are two parts. One part is done when you first install Zoom, and the other part is done every time you enter a meeting.

Part 1 – Enable The Option To See Original Sound

You will need to do this only if this is the first time you are joining us or have freshly installed Zoom.

  1. On your device, open Zoom.
  2. Click on the More button in the bottom right.
  3. In the menu, click on the toggle for Use Original Audio until its slider turns green.
  4. Exit Meeting Settings.

Easy, right? This is very important – without that, you cannot do the second part.

Part 2 – Enable Original Sound In Your Meeting

You will need to do this every time you join us over Zoom.

  1. When you are in the meeting and your audio is connected, click on the More button.
  2. Once in the More menu, tap on Enable Original Sound.

If done correctly, tapping the More button again should now show Disable Original Sound.

You will need to do this for every meeting you want to use Original Sound.
